BANGALORE October 02/12: Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar presented the Jayashree Award, noted Writer Dr. Rajashekhar Mathapati(RAGAM) instituted by Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi to at Gandhi Bhavan here.
The award is presented for his book in Kannada "Gandhi:Anthima Dinagalu" The Trust presents this award for the best book published during the year 2012-13 relating to Gandhi, Vinoba or National importance.
Speaking
on the occasion the Chief Minister recalled Mahatma Gandhi’s
contribution to the nation and said his path of non-violence is the need
of the hour.
Prior to the award presenting ceremony, Mahatma Gandhi’s followers took out an ‘Awareness Rally’ from M G Road to Gandhi Bhavan.
The awardee:
Dr. Rajashekhar Mathapati is working as an Asst Professor, in English, at YDD GFGC, Belur. Having a Masters Degree and Ph.D in English from Karnataka University
Dr.Mathapati has published more than 43 books both in English and Kannada. His books on K.A.Abbas, Osho, Gandhi and many noted personalities are best sellers.
Dr.Mathapati's "Gandhi: Anthima Dinagalu" is also declared as the best book of the year-2012. It talks of Gandhi not as an ism but as a Man of confusions, conflicts and confidence.
